Lockdown but not Knocked down

Town was quiet and the roads were empty… Even there was no birds singing outside whereas police were at every corner.

Very first day of lockdown seemed to me like the beginning scene of the movie “I am a legend”. I felt like time had stopped for a while.

Happy, wonderful Saturday to all of you!

What have you discovered about yourself in the lockdown?

For me everything started from November… Precisely marvelous things…

It was mid November I was invited to participate in an international space research conference, also bought gym membership in order to reshape my body. In a nutshell, I’ve planned so many activities and am thrilled about doing it. Out of the blue, here in Ulaanbaatar first local covid-19 case was reported and the government imposed lockdown. We all started to work from home, and have to cope with a new normal lifestyle.

During lockdown almost most of the people were hopeless and missed human contact, vulnerable members of society were facing financial struggles most of the adults became night owls and fluffy piggy because of sleeping and eating disorders.

For the first week I was one of them, and everything seemed meaningless. I came to a profound realization that I’m spending my time to fulfill someone’s dream rather than mine.

From that time, I started to meditate and noticed that I went too far from myself, and forgot about the little girl residing in me. And surprisingly, it turned out to be a marvelous opportunity to listen to my inner voice and unlock my true potential.

I created a routine that works perfectly for me with the help of my like-minded partners. A retrospective, I believe that lockdown is a period of learning, experimenting, re-discovering myself, and most of all, discovering and deciding what I want to do forward.

For the last 4 months I have been challenging myself and wanted to prove myself what I can accomplish.

So I started waking up between 5–5:30AM, adopted the reading and I prepared for IELTS within 2 and half months every single morning and got a score that I needed.

With the extra two hours a day saved by not heading to the office and getting ready, I became physically active more than ever.

Precisely, I did workout until early April with my friends through Zoom each morning. After the exercise I challenged myself to take a cold shower more than 100 days and I performed it more than I expected.

From November we started to go hiking every single Sunday. As a result of this determination I had lost 3kgs without dieting.

Apart from that I had mastered baking different kinds of cookies, cakes and meals. We even had movie nights and drank together virtually.

I did not expect any dramatic outcome, I was just enjoying the ride and now I’m on the way of creating the most persistent and resilient version of myself.

Besides, during the 3rd lockdown I kept challenging myself and started a 100 days running challenge with my friends.

Despite the fact that we are all hearing devastating news everyday about the pandemic situation, the benefit of this journey is to get some more time to follow our hobby, have a quality time with our loved one and to learn new things and find the way to unlock our potential.

After this time we’ll see the land had grown greener and the skies had grown bluer. The trees are taller and flowers everywhere and the air would be filled with the singing of birds.”

For my message to you is what can be locked is just our movement. Our feelings, expression, creativity, spirit, enthusiasm and care can never be locked.” It’s not a crisis whereas a golden opportunity to having time for self-reflection.
